Projects
When moving to London in June 2022, Adam was given a place in The Cantus Ensemble. Recent concerts include Rachmaninov’s All-Night Vigil.
As well as singing in the choir, Adam has also conducted evensong at St Gabriel’s Church, Pimlico.
In his second and final year on the Sing for Pleasure Advanced conducting course, Adam led the full course choir and orchestra for the last concert of the week at Trinity College Chapel, Cambridge.
The ‘course is for the most experienced conductors and uses large-scale and challenging repertoire to extend participant skill across a range of choral and orchestral scenarios’.
Adam was a member of The 24 choir between 2020-2022. It is a small, auditioned choir of around 24 singers led by Robert Hollingworth that performs challenging repertoire from the 15th to 21st century.
Performances have been featured on BBC Radio 3’s The Choir and In Tune.
For its last concert of the academic year 2021/22, Adam conducted ‘Many are the wonders’ by Ken Burton.
Final Recital
Adam’s Final recital at The University of York was on the 25th May 2022. It consisted of a challenging programme and was awarded a first. The programme was designed to show the evolution of English Church music and included:
Civitas Sancti Tui William Byrd
Hear my Prayer, O Lord Henry Purcell
Beati Quorum Via Charles-Villiers Stanford
St Paul’s Magnificat & Nunc Dimitis Herbert Howells
Round me falls the night Annabel McLauchlan Rooney
God be with Us Cecilia McDowall

In 2021, Adam started a new choir from scratch at the University of York, choosing to keep the name Animas from a past choir that stopped performing due to COVID-19. Starting fresh enabled a complete restart of the group and its expectations. It has now taken the place of a previously staff-led choir at the university.
The video above is taken from Animas' latest concert in March 2022, 'Rejoice in the Lamb'. The piece was written by Don Gillthorpe and dedicated to Adam and Animas.
Vox boys’ choir was created 'to provide a challenging consort singing opportunity for boys aged between 14 and 19' in the Lancaster area, and has gained a reliable audience every year since it was founded in 2012 by Don Gillthorpe.
Adam was asked to conduct their biggest concert of the year during the Lancaster Priory Festival of Song in September 2021.
In Summer 2021, Adam took part in the SfP Advanced Summer School course, in which he won an award for his conducting. He got the opportunity to conduct pieces from the new OUP book, 'Breath of Song', the Rutter Magnificat and a mass setting by Palestrina.
